The Ministry of External Affairs released a statement confirming the decision, emphasizing that it clearly demonstrates India’s intent to foster deeper collaboration in all areas of mutual interest with Afghanistan. This upgrade was a direct outcome of discussions during the Afghan Foreign Minister’s recent visit to India.
The newly established Embassy will be instrumental in advancing India’s support for Afghanistan’s holistic development, providing essential humanitarian aid, and bolstering capacity-building programs tailored to the needs and aspirations of Afghan society.
During bilateral talks on October 10th, the Indian External Affairs Minister and the Afghan Foreign Minister discussed pressing regional matters and areas of shared concern. The Indian minister reaffirmed India’s long-standing solidarity with the Afghan people and highlighted the profound historical and cultural bonds. He reiterated India’s steadfast support for Afghanistan’s development journey and its commitment to the nation’s sovereignty and stability.
