Tyler Robinson, the individual accused of shooting Charlie Kirk, a notable figure in conservative circles, has been arrested. It was reported that Robinson considered self-harm when confronted by his father about the shooting. Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed Robinson’s apprehension and his suspected involvement in the shooting incident.
The investigation that led to Robinson’s arrest was driven by early evidence, including a palm print, a rifle found in the woods, and shoe sole impressions. At a press conference, Governor Cox, along with FBI Chief Kash Patel, shared details of the arrest. The authorities were alerted by a family member of Robinson, who contacted a family friend, which in turn, prompted a call to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The family member’s report included information suggesting that Robinson had confessed to the crime. During a dinner, Robinson mentioned Kirk’s upcoming visit to Utah, and made disparaging remarks about Kirk’s character. Robinson’s roommate also shared Discord messages that revealed that Robinson had hidden a rifle. Patel confirmed the arrest, which occurred at approximately 10 p.m. local time on September 11. Kirk was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University.
