Pakistan was rocked by three separate suicide attacks on Tuesday, leading to the tragic loss of 22 lives and leaving 40 injured. The first attack took place in Balochistan during a rally, where a suicide bomber detonated, resulting in at least 11 deaths. Another explosion occurred in the parking area of a stadium in Quetta, injuring 40 people; many were members of the Balochistan National Party (BNP). In a separate incident in Balochistan, near the Iranian border, a roadside bomb killed five and injured four. No group has taken responsibility for this particular attack. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a suicide attack at a military base resulted in the deaths of six soldiers. An official explained that the attack began when a suicide bomber drove an explosives-laden vehicle into the FC camp gate, after which five attackers entered the base. A 12-hour gun battle followed, resulting in the deaths of the six attackers. The Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack. Recent statistics show that since January 1st, more than 430 people have been killed in violence related to armed groups operating against the state in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A significant portion of the casualties are members of the security forces. The Pakistani army has been combating extremism in the region for over a decade, and the year 2024 has seen a sharp increase in violence, with 782 reported deaths.
