The interim government of Mohammad Yunus is facing severe accusations from the family of slain activist Osman Hadi. His brother, Sharif Omar bin Hadi, alleges that Hadi was deliberately killed to obstruct the upcoming general elections. Omar bin Hadi stated that the government bears full responsibility for failing to protect his brother and that justice must be served to those in power during that period. He further elaborated that the assassination was a calculated move to destabilize the electoral process and suggested a political ploy to leverage Hadi’s death for electoral advantage. “His murder was intended to hinder the process,” Omar reportedly conveyed to the press. The 32-year-old youth leader was shot in Dhaka on December 12 while campaigning and later passed away. His killing ignited protests and disturbances across Bangladesh. Hadi was interred with significant security measures, and his funeral was attended by thousands. The Yunus administration observed a national day of mourning.
