Following the recent Israeli strikes that resulted in the loss of several key Iranian military figures, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has appointed Major General Amir Hatami as the new Army Chief. This appointment comes at a time of heightened tensions, with Iran launching a large number of ballistic missiles towards Israel in response to the attacks. Hatami, who previously served as the Defence Minister, was chosen due to his perceived dedication, competence, and extensive experience. He replaces Lieutenant General Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi in the role. Furthermore, Major General Mohammad Pakpour has been appointed as the Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC, indicating significant changes within the Iranian military leadership in the wake of the ongoing conflict.
