Chief Minister to table State Budget on March 3

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who is also the Finance Minister of State, will be tabling his second and State’s 20th Budget Demand Proposals in the House on March 3. It was decided in the meeting of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Work Advisory Committee. The meeting of Work Advisory Committee which, held on Monday ahead of commencement of House proceedings, was chaired by Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Deputy Speaker Manoj Singh Mandavi, Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ravindra Choubey, Forest Minister Mohammed Akbar, Urban Administration Minister Dr Shivkumar Daharia, former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, JCC(J) Legislative Party Leader Dharamjit Singh, Satyanarayan Sharma, Dhanendra Sahu, Food Minister Amarjeet Bhagat, senior BJP Leader Brijmohan Agrawal, etc. The Congress Government under Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had presented its previous budget on February 8, 2019, where the Fiscal Deficit was estimated at Rs 10,888 crore. Accordingly the receipts in the budget was estimated at Rs 91,542 crore while the expenditure was estimated at Rs 90,910 crore. During Winter Session, budget provisions worth Rs 4,546 crore for the second Supplementary Budget 2019-20 was passed, with which the size of main budget for the financial year 2019-20, grew to Rs 1,04,787 crore. The state government would be tabling budget provisions for the Third Supplementary Budget on February 25, which will be passed on February 28 after discussions. The Speaker has reserved two days, February 26 and 27, for discussions on the Thanksgiving Proposal on Governor’s Address.
