Boosting India-Bangladesh Economy: Goyal's Key Meet with Envoy

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal engaged in fruitful talks with Bangladesh High Commissioner Mohammad Riyazuddin Ahmed in the national capital on March 20, aiming to elevate economic collaboration between the two neighbors.

The discussions spanned trade issue resolutions, partnership expansion, and aligned interests. Ahmed, via X, hailed the session as memorable, complimenting Goyal's profound wisdom, drive, and strategic outlook. 'Focused on deepening ties for our peoples' benefit, we charted paths beyond current trade snags,' he shared.

The minister was captivated by Jamdani weaving, Bangladesh's prized muslin tradition with UNESCO intangible heritage status, symbolizing artisanal excellence.

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar met Ahmed too, prioritizing forward momentum in relations.

On energy, India pledged continued assistance. In a briefing, Randhir Jaiswal detailed diesel supplies to Bangladesh from 2007, aiding neighbors despite challenges. 'We juggle home needs and capacities to meet demands,' he affirmed, noting West Asia conflicts complicating LPG flows.

India-Bangladesh relations have flourished, with bilateral trade hitting record highs. Initiatives like power grids, petrapurab bridges, and Maitri Setu exemplify connectivity gains. These talks herald deeper integration, fostering jobs, innovation, and security in an interconnected South Asia.
