Following the success of ChatGPT, AI chatbots have seen a surge in popularity. Google’s Gemini AI has emerged as a strong contender. Gemini’s integration within Google services, like Gmail and Calendar, streamlines user experiences. A key concern, however, is that Google automatically uses your conversations with Gemini to train its AI models.
Large language models like Gemini rely on extensive datasets to learn and understand language structure, context, and reasoning. These models identify patterns, enabling them to provide more relevant and useful responses. By analyzing your Gemini conversations, Google can refine its AI’s ability to answer questions and tailor content.
Users regularly turn to chatbots for assistance on various topics. This data allows Google to improve its AI models. Fortunately, you can prevent Google from using your data.
To stop Google from using your Gemini conversations to train its AI models, disable the Gemini Apps Activity setting. You can access this setting through the app or website. Note that the setting name might be updated to ‘Keep Activity’, but the process will remain the same.
Instructions to adjust your settings:
1. Go to Gemini.Google.com using your browser and sign in to your Google account.
2. Click the three-line menu icon in the top-left corner and select ‘Settings’.
3. In the Activity section, locate Gemini Activity and click the ‘Turn Off’ button. This will prevent Google from using your data to train its AI models.
