WhatsApp has released its new ‘Remind Me’ feature for Android beta users, designed to ensure that users do not miss replying to or following up on crucial messages. This feature is aimed at busy users who can sometimes overlook important messages. The ‘Remind Me’ feature enables users to set reminders on a variety of message types, including text, images, videos, GIFs, audio, and documents. To use it, users long-press on the desired message and tap the bell icon. Users can choose from options for 2 hours, 8 hours, 24 hours or they can customize the time and date. At the selected time, a notification will pop up, including the message content, the chat name, and any media preview. Reminders can easily be deleted by long-pressing the message and removing the reminder. The feature differentiates itself from starred messages or pinned chats by sending direct notifications. Besides ‘Remind Me’, WhatsApp is also testing a ‘Quick Recap’ feature, designed to offer summaries of unread chats, letting users quickly locate important information.
