Vodafone Idea has approached the Supreme Court to challenge the demands related to Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR), seeking a recalculation. The company’s petition focuses on the AGR calculations from before 2017, claiming certain amounts have been double-counted. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had initially sought ₹5,960 crore. Subsequently, the government has raised the demand by an additional ₹2,774 crore. The DoT had issued a notice on August 13 with a 15-day response deadline. AGR is a revenue metric critical to telecom companies, serving as the basis for license fees and spectrum usage charges paid to the government.
