The Department of Telecommunications is pushing for changes to cybersecurity regulations to mitigate fraudulent activities linked to mobile phone numbers. A new draft, released on June 24th, suggests establishing a new platform dedicated to mobile number verification. This platform is intended to incorporate all entities with customer verification licenses.
The proposed MNV (Mobile Number Verification) platform will help authorized entities and licensees check if a phone number utilized by a user or company is present in the database. The draft also specifies the entities, referred to as TIUEs (Telecommunication Identifier User Entities), that leverage numbers or transactions to verify users.
