In a significant move to bolster cybersecurity, the Indian government’s Department of Telecommunications is utilizing an indigenous AI and Big Data analytics tool, ASTR. This tool has been instrumental in identifying and disconnecting over 8.2 million mobile connections. These connections were associated with a single individual but registered under different names, and failed the re-verification process. This information was provided by the Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, in a written response in the Rajya Sabha.
