In an effort to modernize the education system, the Indian government has launched APAAR ID. This initiative offers students a unique digital identity that consolidates their academic information onto a single platform. This article explores the features of APAAR ID, its benefits, and the online application process.
APAAR, or Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry, is implemented under the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC). This functions as a digital account where all of a student’s educational details are stored. These include details regarding school or college admissions, completed courses, course credits, certificates, and degrees.
Benefits of APAAR ID:
* Digital records for educational information.
* Seamless transfer between educational institutions.
* Enhanced security for certificates.
* Reduced fraud risk.
* Improved tracking capabilities at the national level.
How to Apply for APAAR ID Online:
Students should first contact their respective schools. Schools will update the student’s details, including name, Aadhaar number, mobile number, and class, on the UDISE+ portal. Afterwards, students must log in to DigiLocker using their Aadhaar card. Within DigiLocker, students should choose the APAAR ID option and grant authorization. The APAAR ID is generated immediately and stored within DigiLocker.
Important: For students under 18, parental consent is required.
Who is Eligible?
Students attending government or private schools, as well as college and university students and those enrolled in skill development courses, are eligible.
APAAR ID signifies a significant step towards creating a more digital and transparent education system in India, providing students with an enhanced method of tracking their educational journey and granting immediate access to their records.
