OPSC Exams Rescheduled, Students Demand Postponement Of Exam

Cuttack: The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) examination for the put up of assistant surgeon, which was scheduled to be held on April 25, has been rescheduled for April 28.
Due to the weekend shutdown introduced by the State authorities over rising covid-19 instances, the Commission reportedly determined to defer the examination to Wednesday.
“Recruitment test for Medical Officer (Assistant Surgeon) scheduled to held on 25.04.2021 (Sunday) at 10.00A.M. is now rescheduled A 28.04.202I(Wednesday) at the same in view of shutdown declared for weekend days following latest Covid guidelines,” A notification issued by the OPSC said.
However, the centre lists as marketed, candidates roll quantity will stay unchanged besides in respect of centre Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar.
“The roll nos. which were assigned to Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar is now allotted to the Gandhi Institute for Technological Advancement (GITA), Bhubaneswar,” it talked about.
The candidates have been suggested to obtain “Admission Certificate” and “Instructions to Candidate” from the OPSC website- www.opsc.gov.in.
On the opposite hand, candidates making ready for the examination have expressed displeasure over the OPSC’s choice to carry the check in the course of the time when the State is grappling with the pandemic.They have demanded postponement of the examination as a result of rising development within the coronavirus instances.
“We want the exam to be conducted only after Covid-19 cases declined. Various States have also cancelled/postponed competitive and State civil services examinations,” stated Kamalaksha Samal, a candidate.
Many candidates have tweeted tagging Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Health Minister and OPSC chairman searching for their intervention within the matter in view of the larger curiosity of the candidates.
Mohit, a tweetrati said: “@satyajitips88 sir, situation is so critical that govt is advising patients not to come hospitals if they r not serious to avoid covid risk. on the other hand #opsc is conducting exams n putting thousands of lives at risk to covid exposure. plz postpone.”
Similarly, Dr Elsa talked about. ” While neetpg received postponed regardless of examination centres in all cities…#OPSC suspending the examination for 3 days whereas having examination centres in simply 1 metropolis for all of the candidates…exhibits the extent of insensibility n lack of empathy of govt for medicos n younger docs.”
Another candidate tweeted, “Amidst the alarming rise of #Covid cases, #OPSC should either postpone the OPSC MO exam or make examination centres available in all the cities of Odisha. Conducting exam in only ctc/bbsr will put the candidate at risk.”
Earlier, AIIMS and NEET exams had been postponed as a result of country-wide covid disaster.
