Odisha proposes 40 medical oxygen crops

BHUBANESWAR :  In view of rising caseload and demand for medical oxygen, Odisha authorities on Wednesday proposed the Centre for set up of 40 oxygen crops within the State. The crops could be arrange in all medical faculty and hospitals, district headquarters hospitals (DHHs), Capital Hospital, Rourkela Government Hospital and Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute of Cancer (AHPGIC) at Cuttack.

The Centre had sought proposals from the State authorities primarily based on the requirement of medical oxygen crops. Sources mentioned the stress swing adsorption (PSA) crops will probably be arrange by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in collaboration with a number of companies, together with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL).

While NHAI has been tasked for building of the shed and electrification, DRDO will set up the crops funded by PM Cares. Construction work for the crops at AHPGIC and Boudh DHH has already commenced.

NHAI Chief General Manager Ram Prasad Panda mentioned, “We have received approval for two plants in the first phase and five in the second. The sheds at the two places will be ready within the next 15-20 days and thereafter the DRDO will set up the plant.”  The oxygen plant is designed for a capability of 1,000 litre per minute to cater to round 200 sufferers whereas charging 195 cylinders per day.
