Mohanlal-starrer ‘Aarattu’ fetches Railways Rs 23.46 lakh income

PALAKKAD:  The two-day shoot of Mohanlal-starrer ‘Aarattu’ on the Palakkad Town station have fetched the Railways a income of whooping `23.46 lakh. Palakkad division of the Railways restarted renting out the stations and trains for taking pictures after the federal government relaxed Covid restrictions.

“The manufacturing controller had approached the Railways and requested for six coaches comprising one AC two-tier coach, one sleeper class, one normal second class, one baggage cum brake van and one parcel van coach with diesel at Palakkad Town railway station.

We agreed to lease out the station with all of the required amenities and the site visitors was much less too,” Jerin G Anand, senior divisional business supervisor of the Railways, advised TNIE.He mentioned the practice needed to change tracks solely when the Amritha Express arrived on the station. The station was named ‘Salem’ station within the film.   

In addition to the leases, the manufacturing firm needed to pay a permission price of Rs 1,41,600 together with 18 per cent GST and a safety deposit (refundable) of Rs 3,15,000 (Rs 3,00,000 + 5 per cent GST).  As per the Railway tips, an insurance coverage premium for 15 railway workers and 25 passengers needed to be paid, mentioned an official. The shoot wrapped up on Friday. According to senior divisional business supervisor, the Railway is receiving extra enquiries for renting Nilambur station.
