A major police operation targeted illegal alcohol businesses in the Chirukunda and Kalubathan regions of the Nirsa sub-division. The joint raid by Chirukunda and Kalubathan police, conducted late Wednesday night, resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of both local and foreign liquor. Two alcohol smugglers were taken into custody during the raid. Police are now intensifying their efforts to locate and arrest other suspects who are still at large. The details of the operation were revealed by Nirsa SDPO Rajat Manik Bakhla during a press conference held at the Maithon office on Thursday. The SDPO said that the raids were conducted following directives from senior police officers to combat the unlawful production and sale of alcohol. In the Kalubathan OP area, a raid was carried out at the house of Raghunath Tudu in Kaithardih village, and a large quantity of alcohol was seized. Mangal Tudu, a liquor vendor, was arrested on the spot and provided information about other individuals during interrogation. The police are actively searching for the suspects. Simultaneously, a raid at a hotel near the Junkundar Phatak vegetable market in the Chirukunda police station area led to the seizure of a consignment of foreign and local liquor. The hotel operator attempted to flee but was apprehended by the police. Both arrested individuals have been charged under relevant sections and remanded to judicial custody. The SDPO stated that the operation would continue and that strict action would be taken against anyone involved in the illegal alcohol trade.
