A significant operation against illegal alcohol was conducted by police in the Chirkunda and Kalubathan areas of the Nirsa sub-division, Dhanbad. The joint raid, carried out late Wednesday night, resulted in the seizure of a massive quantity of both domestic and foreign liquor. In the operation, the police arrested two individuals involved in the illegal liquor trade, and have launched search operations for other suspects who are still at large. Nirsa SDPO Rajat Manik Bakhla briefed the media about the operation during a press conference held at the Maithon office on Thursday. The SDPO stated that the raids were conducted under the direction of senior police officials and were aimed at stopping the illegal production and sale of alcohol. During one such raid, a large quantity of liquor was recovered from Raghunath Tudu’s residence in Kathardiha village, under the Kalubathan OP area. Mangal Tudu, a liquor seller, was arrested at the scene, and provided information on others involved in the illegal trade during interrogation. The police are actively working to locate and apprehend these suspects. In a separate incident, police raided a hotel near the Jhundkundar Phatak vegetable market in the Chirkunda police station area, seizing a substantial amount of both foreign and local liquor. The hotel operator attempted to escape but was apprehended by the police. The arrested individuals have been charged under relevant sections and have been remanded to judicial custody. The SDPO emphasized that these operations will continue to eliminate illegal liquor trade in the region.
