CIL subsidiaries have tied up with Sri Sathya Sai Health and Education Trust for life -saving surgery under ‘Nanha Sa Dil’, CSR Pahal, under which children suffering from heart disease will be tested and surgery.
Coal ministry: Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL) under the aegis of the Ministry of coal For providing, separate MoU has been signed in New Delhi with Shri Sathya Sai Health and Education Trust (SSSHET). Under this, children suffering from congenital heart disease will be tested, surgery and screening. These consent letters were signed in the presence of Vikram Dev Dutt, Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Rupinder Barar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Santosh, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Coal, Dr. C. Srinivas, President of SSSHET and other senior officers and dignitaries.
CCL’s GM (CSR) SS Lal and NCL’s GM (CSR) Rajiv Ranjan signed on behalf of their respective companies, while SSSHET was signed by trustee Mr. Vivek Gaur. Under the aegis of the Ministry of Coal (MOC), CIL and its subsidiaries are committed to strengthening India’s healthcare landscape through impressive CSR initiatives assisting needy families in their operating areas. On this occasion, Coal Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt said, “These consent letters will provide goodwill equity to Coal India and its subsidiaries in the coming years.

During the program, CIL President PM Prasad, CIL Director (P&I) Dr. Vinay Ranjan, Executive Director (CD) OP Mishra and CIL’s CMD and Director of CIL were joined through video conferencing.
45 thousand children will be investigated in Jharkhand
Little heart is a unique CSR initiative by CIL in collaboration with SSSHET, which takes advantage of the specialization of the trust in pediatric cardiac surgery. Under this initiative, CCL will examine 45,000 children in Jharkhand, which plans for 500 children suffering from CHD and NCL will organize 345 ground level screening camps for 17,250 children. This initiative is now through CCL, NCL and SECL and In more states, the beneficiaries are expanding to cover. CIL and its subsidiary companies are committed to save more than 2,000 people in the next three years, which will prove to be a historic milestone for any public sector unit in India.
1673 crore investment in health, education and rural development
According to the Ministry of Coal, in the last three years, CIL and its subsidiaries have invested Rs 1,673 crore in healthcare, education and rural development. Remandable, 90 per cent of the total CSR expenditure is dedicated to the states, while 10 per cent supports the influential PAN-India projects aimed at uplifting the disadvantaged communities. Out of 2.40 lakh children born with CHD in India, only 5 percent undergo surgery due to high cost. Through the little heart, CIL is dedicated to bridge this difference and give hope to countless families. Certainly under the guidance of the Ministry of Coal, Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries are not only contributing to nation building, but are also impressing the lives of new people and are giving them precious gifts of life.
