Bilaspur. Primary information was received about the death of 7 to 8 persons in village Lofandi, Thana Koni Tehsil Bilaspur of Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh, on which the district administration took quick cognizance. The district administration has issued an explanation in this regard, stating that the death of the villagers is not due to poisonous liquor, but food poisoning and snakebite. At the same time, the administration team has got a postmortem of a dead body and a detailed report is awaited. At present, people are being investigated by setting up medical camps in the village.
Initial investigation by the district administration has revealed that the wedding ceremony was organized between 3 to 6 February at the house of Shravan Dewangan, a resident of Lofandi, in which the people of the village were invited to the mass banquet. According to the villagers, on 6 February, some people had eaten fish on the banks of the river, after which the health of many villagers started deteriorating. Many villagers were admitted to the hospital after symptoms like stomach pain, vomiting, dizziness and lethargy, but 7 people died during treatment.
In the case, the district administration found an investigation that Devprasad Patel and Shatruhan Dewangan died on 5 February. Devprasad Patel’s death has been described as death due to snakebite, which has been confirmed by his son’s statement and police records.
On February 7 and 8, 5 more people died, including Ramuram Sunhale, Komal Lahre, Kanhaiya Patel, Baldev Patel and Kunnu Dewangan. Baldev Patel died at Shriram Care Hospital, where the cardio respiratory arrest has been described as the cause of death in the death certificate.
The district administration also informed that the villagers performed the last rites of most of the dead and no department was informed in this regard. However, the administration team recovered the body of the deceased Ramuram Sunhale from the spot and sent Sims for post -mortem. In the PM report received from Sims, ‘no specific cause of death can be given yet, Bisra, Histo Pathology and Blood Analysis reports can be concluded only after the death.
