An IED blast in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh led to the death of ASP Akash Rao Giripunj and injuries to several other police personnel. The blast took place near Dondra village. Police were conducting patrols in the area in response to a bandh called by the Naxals. The ASP, who was with the Konta division, died during treatment. The injured were taken to the Konta hospital. Deputy CM Vijay Shamra expressed his sadness, recognizing the ASP’s bravery and valor. Following the incident, search operations and investigations have started. This event stresses the continuing difficulties faced by security forces when battling Naxal operations. Previously, there was an attack in January 2025, in the Bijapur district, where nine people were killed. The incident occurred in the morning.
