Rice procurement figures exceed 145 lakh metric tonnes.
Over 2.5 million farmers have sold rice; ₹29,599 crore paid so far.
DO and TO issued for lifting 110 lakh metric tonnes of procured rice.
More than 87 lakh metric tonnes of rice has already been lifted.
Raipur, January 24, 2025: The rice procurement process, which began in Chhattisgarh on November 14th, continues uninterrupted. The previous year’s record has been surpassed in this year’s procurement. Last year, 144.92 lakh metric tonnes of rice were procured. This year, the figure has crossed 145 lakh metric tonnes as of today’s date.
Food Department officials stated that 2,513,000 farmers in the state have sold their rice. Under the bank-linking system, ₹29,599 crore has been paid to farmers so far in lieu of rice procurement.
Along with procurement, rice lifting for custom milling is also being expedited. DOs and TOs have been issued for the lifting of 110 lakh metric tonnes of rice. Against this, more than 87 lakh metric tonnes of rice has already been lifted. Rice procurement will continue until January 31, 2025.
Tokens for all registered farmers in the state to sell rice during the Kharif Marketing Year 2024-25 are available online through the “Token Tuhar Haath” app and at procurement centers until January 25, 2025. Farmers can choose their date and sell rice as per the rules.
It is noteworthy that 27.78 lakh farmers have registered for this Kharif year by the state government. This includes 1.59 lakh new farmers. This year, the estimated rice procurement is 160 lakh metric tonnes through 2739 procurement centers.
On January 24, the state government procured 1.41 lakh metric tonnes of rice from 30,762 farmers under the support price. 58,997 tokens were issued for this.
