Instructions to manage cold wave protection in cold weather

State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Shri Jai Singh Agarwal has instructed the departmental officers to make necessary arrangements for the common man to avoid it in the event of cold wave and frost in this winter season. In this regard, Ms. Rita Shandilya, Secretary, Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, has issued a circular to all divisional commissioners, collectors and chief medical officers of the state.

According to the circular issued by the Secretary of the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, he has directed the officers that according to the guidelines issued from time to time by the Government of India, the National Disaster and Management Authority and the India Meteorological Center, normally in the month of December to January. The prevalence and intensity of cold sometimes takes the form of a cold wave. Disabled, housingless, poor, aged and school going students living in urban and rural areas are likely to be affected by cold. Therefore, proper arrangements should be made from now on to protect the people affected by the cold wave. Necessary guidelines have been issued to the authorities in this regard.

Instructions have been given to make proper arrangements to stay in night shelters or temporary shelters for rickshaw pullers, daily laborers, housewives, and the like-minded people with disabilities for protection from cold wave and frost. Arrangements have been made to keep sufficient blankets in night shelter shelters. Instructions have been given to arrange a bonfire in a district of the state to prevent cold outbreak in the event of a cold wave. It should be cautioned that there is no fire incident. Instructions have been given to make proper arrangements for storage of essential medicines and to provide medical services to the people and to set up medical teams in all districts.
