Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah met with officials in New Delhi to congratulate them on the successful outcomes of recent anti-Naxal operations. He reiterated the Modi government’s resolve to eliminate Naxalism from India. The event was attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma.
In a post on X, the Home Minister celebrated the success of the operations and expressed his intention to meet with the brave soldiers who contributed to the success. He plans a visit to Chhattisgarh soon. Under the direction of the Union Home Minister, the Chhattisgarh Police has been conducting anti-Maoist operations.
An important operation was carried out by the Chhattisgarh Police (including DRG forces from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur) in the inner regions of Abujmarh from May 18 to May 21, 2025. This resulted in an encounter on May 21, 2025, in the Boter village forests, where 27 Naxals, including Basavaraju alias Gaganna, the General Secretary and Politburo member of CPI (Maoist), were killed, and a large quantity of weapons and ammunition were recovered.
The honored officials included Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations/SIB/STF) Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police of Bastar Range Sundarraj, Superintendent of Police of Narayanpur Prabhat Kumar, Superintendent of Police of Bijapur Jitendra Yadav, and Superintendent of Police of Naxal-free district Bastar Shalabh Singh. Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, and other senior officials were also present.
