    Home Minister Emphasized Swift and Complete Implementation of the New Laws in the State

    Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai Informed About Chhattisgarh’s Preparations

    Discussion on the Development of Bastar and Naxal Eradication Also Took Place in the Meeting

    New Delhi, April 21, 2025 – Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai met with Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah today at North Block, New Delhi. The implementation of three new criminal laws in the state was reviewed in the meeting chaired by Shri Shah. Along with this, the eradication of Naxalism, the overall development of Bastar, and further strengthening the security and justice system in the state were also discussed. Chhattisgarh Home Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, along with many senior officials from the Union Home Ministry and the State Government, were present at the meeting.

    The Indian Penal Code, the Indian Code of Criminal Procedure, and the Indian Evidence Act were discussed at the meeting. Along with this, the implementation and current status of various new provisions related to the police, jails, courts, prosecution, and forensics were reviewed.

    Chief Minister Shri Sai informed the meeting that administrative and technical preparations have been completed in Chhattisgarh to effectively implement the new criminal laws. 27 types of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and guidelines have been prepared and implemented in the state. Along with this, approximately 37,385 police personnel have been trained. Courts, police stations, and jails have been equipped with e-evidence and video conferencing systems. So far, 53,981 FIRs have been registered in the state under the new laws, in which chargesheets have been filed in approximately 50% of the cases.

    A special strategy for the permanent solution of the Naxal problem was also discussed in the meeting. The Chief Minister informed that in recent months, many wanted Naxalites have been killed, arrested, or surrendered in operations conducted in the state. Efforts such as the Niyad Nelanar Yojana, Bastar Olympics, Women’s Security Center, and the development of homestays and tourism infrastructure in tribal areas have had a significant impact on connecting youth with the mainstream.

    The Chief Minister also informed that the state government is committed to making Chhattisgarh Naxal-free by the year 2026 and is working rapidly towards developing Bastar as a major tourist center of India.

    Chief Minister Shri Sai also assured that Chhattisgarh will follow the guidelines of the Central Government with full dedication and will play a leading role in effectively implementing this initiative of legal reform across the country.

    Appreciating the work done so far by the Chhattisgarh government regarding the implementation of the new criminal laws, the Home Minister emphasized swift and complete implementation of the new laws in the state.

    Home Minister Amit Shah expressed expectations of coordination and promptness from Chhattisgarh and said that the objective of the new laws is to make the justice process simpler, faster, and more people-oriented.

    Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Shri Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Kumar Pingua, Inspector General of Police Shri Sushil Dwivedi, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary Shri Rahul Bhagat, Principal Secretary Law Shri Rajnish Srivastava, Secretary Home, Smt. Neha Champawat, and other officials were also present at the meeting.
