By India Today Sports Desk: Gujarat Giants all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner admitted that she was inconsistent all through the match, however added that she was lastly happy with a scientific all-round efficiency within the 11-run win over Delhi Capitals within the WPL 2023.

Gujarat Giants received their second sport of the inaugural Women’s Premier League on Thursday, defeating Delhi Capitals by 11 runs on the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Sneh Rana’s GG efficiently defended their 147-run complete by dismissing DC for 136 runs in 18.4 overs.

“It’s the game I was searching for. I felt I’d been inconsistent so far in the tournament. To put my team in a winning position with the bat, Laura and I set the platform for our team to leverage off. Then we knew we had to bowl well. We did that. It’s the first time we bowled out a team. So it was a clinical performance which was pleasing,” Ashleigh Gardner stated within the post-match presentation ceremony.

Gardner produced an all-round efficiency as she first scored an unbeaten 51 after which took two essential wickets towards DC. GG reclaimed fourth place within the WPL 2023 factors desk as DC had been bundled out for 136 runs, 11 in need of the goal in 18.4 overs.

“We spoke as a team and felt that we were losing too many wickets in clumps. To take our time and remember that 20 overs is a long time, you tend to forget that as it seems to go so fast. So we gave ourselves a couple of balls to have a look, given you can catch up in India where the outfields are fast and wickets are good and cash in at the end. I think as the tournament has gone on, there’s been more spin and has played a greater part. There was none earlier in the tournament, so now we can hit our lengths and find results,” Gardner added.
