Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Former India selector Saba Karim has slammed the Indore pitch and blamed India for the lack of spirit of Test cricket.

By India Today Sports Desk: Former India selector Saba Karim has slammed the pitch on the Holkar Stadium in Indore. India misplaced their first Test match of 2023 whereas taking part in within the third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy towards Australia. Steve Smith captained the facet to a 9-wicket win, which helped them to qualify for the World Test Championship Final 2023.

Saba Karim, whereas chatting with India News slammed the Indore pitch and stated that within the desperation to succeed in the finals of WTC, India didn’t uphold the spirit of cricket.

“In our desperation to qualify for the WTC final, we have lost the spirit of Test cricket. We have No.1 and No.2 teams competing here. It would have been a joy to watch them play if the contest was between all aspects of Test cricket,” the previous India selector defined.

The Indore pitch was rated poor by the ICC and copped three demerit factors that made the legendary Sunil Gavaskar fume after the conclusion of the sport.

Karim however stated that pitches like Delhi and Indore have shunned the flexibility of batters to showcase their skillset, one thing that the followers come to stadium for.

“Australia have Steve Smith and India have Virat Kohli, arguably the top two batters in world cricket. But we haven’t gotten to see their batting in this series. What are we trying to prove by making such wickets?” he informed India News.

India will now be taking part in their fourth and remaining Test match towards Australia at Ahmedabad. If India are capable of win the Test match, they may qualify for the WTC Final, set to be hosted in June in England.
