Thailand Open: Parupalli Kashyap retires mid-way from opening conflict

India’s Parupalli Kashyap made an early exit from the Thailand Open Super 1000 event after he was compelled to retire halfway in his opening-round match towards Jason Anthony Ho-Shue of Canada right here on Wednesday.

Kashyap, a former Commonwealth Games champion, was trailing 8-14 within the third recreation when he selected to retire as he pulled his calf muscle.

He had misplaced the primary recreation 9-21 earlier than making a comeback to take the second 21-13.

In the lads’s doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty got here from behind to defeat the South Korean pair of Kim Gi Jung and Lee Yong Dae 19-21 21-16 21-14.
