By India Today Web Desk: Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has stated the Sri Lankans can count on a good variety of short-pitched deliveries of their match towards Australia. The hosts can be trying to bounce again after struggling a hammering by the hands of New Zealand of their opening Super-12 sport.

Speaking forward of the match, Ponting stated the Perth wicket is a full of life one and the Sri Lankans can count on their fair proportion of bouncers.

“I think it’s fair to say that the Sri Lankans probably can expect their fair share of shorter-pitched balls over there. It’s a very lively wicket there, we know that, the bounce there is probably unlike anywhere else in the world,” stated Ponting.

The former Australia skipper went on to say that the brief ball is an underused supply in T20 cricket and could be very helpful for his or her bowlers.

“I actually think it’s an underused ball full stop in T20 cricket. If you’ve got enough pace, use one an over,” Ponting added. It’s a wicket-taking supply, if not, as a rule it is a dot ball anyway and it is a technique to simply get the batsman serious about not lobbing onto the entrance foot,” Ponting added.

The 47-year-old heaped praise on Sri Lanka’s spin-bowling all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, saying he’ll be a handful for any opposition in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

“He’s rapidly turning into the main spin bowler on this planet within the brief format of the sport, despite the fact that the wickets in Australia do not spin a lot. The little little bit of motion he will get both manner, a bit of bit like Rashid Khan, I believe he’ll be a handful for any opposition,” stated Ponting.

T20 World Cup holders Australia are set to tackle Sri Lanka on the Optus stadium in Perth. While Australia are positioned final in Group-1, Sri Lanka occupy the second spot after their win over Ireland.
