Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, the T20 series between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe has provided unexpected results. Sri Lanka, the current champions in the T20 format, faced a humiliating defeat, being bowled out for a mere 80 runs. The match was part of Sri Lanka’s preparation for the Asia Cup.
The Sri Lankan innings crumbled quickly, with wickets falling from the second over. Eight of the eleven batsmen scored in single digits. Kamyu Mishara scored 20 runs, while captain Charith Asalanka made 18. Sikandar Raza and Brad Evans led the Zimbabwean bowling attack, with Raza taking three wickets and Evans also taking three. This score of 80 is Sri Lanka’s second-lowest in T20 cricket. Zimbabwe, needing to chase a low score, did face some difficulty. Dushmantha Chameera of Sri Lanka took three wickets, but Musakanda’s quick 21 runs helped Zimbabwe win the match and level the series.
