Team India’s star cricketer, Sanju Samson, has been in the spotlight lately. Whether it is rumors about leaving Rajasthan Royals or discussions about his exclusion from the Asia Cup squad, Samson’s name has been prominent. Amidst all this, Samson has been delivering impressive performances with his bat, hitting boundaries and sixes, keeping his fans entertained. However, despite his phenomenal batting, Samson will not be able to win a particular trophy. This trophy is the Kerala Cricket League, whose final has been reached by Sanju’s team, Kochi Blue Tigers.
The final lineup for the Kerala Cricket League 2025 season was decided on Friday, September 5th. After both semi-finals concluded, Aries Kollam Sailors and Kochi Blue Tigers earned their spots in the championship match. In the first semi-final, Kollam defeated Thrissur Titans in a one-sided contest, winning by 10 wickets. The Titans were bowled out for a mere 86 runs, a target Kollam achieved within 10 overs.
The second semi-final was between the Tigers and Calicut Globestars. In this match, Kochi Tigers batted first. In this match, Kochi played without Sanju Samson. Samson, who has been consistently explosive with the bat in this tournament, left for Dubai with the Indian team for the Asia Cup before the semi-finals. But the team did not feel his absence, with a quickfire 64 runs with 7 sixes by Nikhil Thottath helping the team to score 186 runs. Muhammad Ashiq also scored 31 runs off 10 balls.
In response, the Calicut team managed to score 171 runs. Akhil Scaria scored 72 runs off 37 balls, but it was not enough to secure a win for his team, and Kochi won by 15 runs to advance to the final. Ashiq, who performed well with his batting, also excelled with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 26 runs.
The Kochi team will also be without Sanju Samson in the final on Sunday, September 7th. The team won the semi-final without Sanju, but the final will be challenging. Samson has also lost the opportunity to win this trophy for his team. He was the top run-scorer for the team this season. In just 6 matches, he scored 368 runs at an average of 73 and a strike rate of 186, which included 30 sixes and 24 fours. Samson will now be looking towards the Asia Cup, where he could play a significant role.
