By India Today Web Desk: Sania Mirza’s marketing campaign in her penultimate profession match short-lived as she crashed out of the Abu Dhabu Open within the first spherical on Monday.

Mirza and American Bethanie Mattek-Sands suffered straight units defeat towards the German-Belgian pair of Laura Siegemund and Kirsten Flipkens 3-6, 4-6 within the girls’s doubles Round of 16 match.

The 36-year-old Indian lately introduced her retirement from Grand Slams on the Australian Open 2023. In her final main match, Mirza, together with Rohan Bopanna, completed as finalists within the combined doubles after shedding to Brazilians Luisa Stefani and Rafael Matos on the Rod Laver Arena.

Mirza opened as much as India Today on her resolution to retire, saying “It is something that I have been thinking for a while, and I think that my body is beat.

“I do know what’s taking me to remain at this degree and compete at this degree, and I do not know if I’ve that in me anymore, and to place that a lot anymore. So, ya, the tank’s a bit of bit empty,” she added.

Mirza additionally stated that she would love to assist the subsequent era after her retirement.

“In all honesty, I would love to help the next generation. We all talk about how we don’t have a system, we don’t have idols, we don’t have champions that we can emulate. And I want to help in any way possible,” stated Mirza.

“Actually, as we speak, Karman Thandi is practicing in my academy. She just messaged me a few days ago, she is here with her coach and her trainers. I would love to do things like that. I would love to encourage and help in any way possible,” Mirza added.
