The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has raised an official protest following a contentious incident that occurred during a recent match. After the match concluded, players from the Indian team, including Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube, immediately proceeded to the changing room. This occurred while the Pakistan team was still on the field, awaiting a handshake. The PCB has expressed its strong disapproval of the situation.
The PCB confirmed in a statement that Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha was advised not to initiate a handshake with Suryakumar Yadav. The PCB has deemed this decision and the ensuing actions as unacceptable. Furthermore, the match referee, Andy Pycroft, reportedly informed Captain Salman Ali Agha before the start of the match that a handshake with the Indian captain would not take place. The Pakistan team management has filed a formal protest, calling the behavior a violation of sportsmanship principles.
In response to the incident, Salman Ali Agha did not participate in the post-match presentation, as the ceremony was hosted by an Indian. On the field, the Pakistan team struggled, ultimately scoring 127 runs. Despite the loss, head coach Mike Hesson and Salman Agha expressed visible frustration stemming from the lack of a handshake after the game.
