By India Today Web Desk: India stand-in captain Hardik Pandya mentioned the continued limited-overs tour of New Zealand is all about position readability and alternatives for brand new gamers within the set-up. Notably, the primary T20I between India and New Zealand was washed out resulting from incessant rain in Wellington on November 18.

Hardik, who’s main the Indian aspect rather than Rohit Sharma within the three-match T20 collection, mentioned the Indian staff would not consider in dwelling on the previous.

“These guys are young by age, but not by experience. They have played plenty of IPL and got a good amount of Internationals as well. I think the youngsters of today don’t get intimidated by not having played too much cricket.

“If the state of affairs calls for, I and the extra skilled gamers will play totally different roles, however this tour is for the brand new guys to get extra readability, alternatives and an opportunity to precise themselves,” Hardik said after the first T20I was washed out here without a ball being bowled.

“The World Cup is completed, I’ve left it behind. The disappointment shall be there, however we will not return and alter issues. We’re now trying ahead to this collection,” he added.

The three-match T20 series will be followed by as many ODIs.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson said the ongoing series is a good platform to test players like Adam Milne, who didn’t get a shot in the T20 World Cup where both the Kiwis and India exited in the semifinal stage.

While India lost to eventual champions England in the semifinals, New Zealand were shown the door by Pakistan.

“It is about getting higher, particularly within the knockout matches. The likes of Adam Milne had been within the T20 World Cup squad however did not get a chance, so it is a good time to get them some sport time,” he said.

“We’ll begin contemporary, it is a new collection each side are trying ahead to. We each wished to get to the ultimate, however we have got every week to relaxation and get ourselves prepared for this.”

Williamson said the upcoming three-match ODI series against India will be great opportunity for young Kiwi players to impress upon the selectors and stake a claim in next year’s 50-over World Cup.

“Most groups gear up in the direction of main occasions that aren’t too distant, and the ODI format will now be an ideal alternative for guys to return in.

“I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunities for guys to shine. We’ll have to wait and see what surfaces present us, and we need to adjust,” he signed off.

The second T20I of the collection shall be performed in Mount Maunganui on Sunday.
