The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will feature Nepal and Oman, who have successfully qualified through the Asia/East Asia Pacific (Asia-EAP) Qualifier tournament. The event, recently concluded in Al Amerat, Oman, saw these two nations emerge as top contenders.
Nepal’s journey was marked by an impressive unbeaten run throughout the qualifiers, culminating in a thrilling one-run victory over the UAE in a high-stakes match. Led by Rohit Paudel, the team relied on strong performances from key players like Aasif Sheikh and Sandeep Lamichhane to secure their spot in the prestigious tournament. This marks Nepal’s third T20 World Cup appearance, following their participation in 2014 and 2024.
Oman, the host nation, demonstrated their prowess with a series of convincing wins. Captain Zeeshan Maqsood steered the team to a comfortable position in the Super Six stage, aided by their tactical acumen and home advantage. Oman’s qualification signifies their third appearance at the T20 World Cup, having previously qualified for the 2016 and 2024 editions.
These qualifications bring the field for the 20-team T20 World Cup 2026, to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, to 19 teams. The remaining spot will be decided through further qualification pathways, as the global cricket landscape continues to expand.
