Mithali Raj not shocked with ‘record-breaking’ bids for inaugural Women’s Premier League

By India Today Web Desk: Mithali Raj hailed the “record-breaking” bid for the inaugural Women’s Premier League and stated that she didn’t anticipate something lower than it.

The BCCI Secretary Jay Shah on Wednesday introduced the mixed bid valuation value INR 4669.99 Cr for the five-team match. Five firms gained the bidding to personal groups within the Women’s Premier League. Adani Sportsline Pvt. Ltd, Indiawin Sports Pvt. Ltd, Royal Challengers Sports Pvt. Ltd, JSW GMR Cricket Pvt. Ltd and Capri Global Holdings Pvt. Ltd will kind ladies’s groups.

“A record-breaking start for the inaugural Women’s Premier League and expected nothing less! It will truly revolutionize women’s cricket as we know it. Exciting times ahead BCCI, BCCI Women, and Jay Shah Sir,” Mithali wrote.

Out of the 5, three have already got groups – Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore – within the Indian Premier League. The BCCI Secretary said that the bids for the Women’s Premier League broke the file of the inaugural IPL in 2008.

Meanwhile, former India cricketer Jhulan Goswami welcomed the bids, saying: “Today marks a historic day for Women’s cricket as the Women’s Indian Premier League (WPL) becomes a reality. The BCCI, Jay Shah, & all those involved should be commended for their efforts in creating this platform for women’s cricket to flourish.”

Adani Sportsline Pvt. Ltd (Ahemdabad) – INR 1289 cr
Indiawin Sports Pvt. Ltd (Mumbai) – INR 912.99 cr
Royal Challengers Sports Pvt. Ltd (Bengaluru) – INR 901 cr
JSW GMR Cricket Pvt. Ltd (Delhi) – INR 810 cr
Capri Global Holdings Pvt. Ltd (Lucknow) – INR 757 cr
