By India Today Web Desk: Defending champions Manchester City have responded to the Financial Fair Play fees leveled towards them by the Premier League, saying they’re stunned by these allegations and welcome the assessment of this matter by an impartial fee.

The Manchester-based membership has been charged with alleged monetary rule breaches by the Premier League. The fees got here up following a Premier League investigation into the membership’s monetary dealings 4 years in the past, months after the discharge of “Football Leaks” paperwork obtained by the German publication Der Spiegel and reviewed by Reuters information company.

According to the Premier League, Manchester City breached rules pertaining to the provision of accurate financial information with respect to its revenue and sponsorships. They said that an independent committee will be formed to look into the matter and no further comment will be made until further notice.

“The members of the Commission might be appointed by the impartial Chair of the Premier League Judicial Panel. The proceedings earlier than the Commission might be confidential and heard in non-public. The Premier League might be making no additional remark in respect of this matter till additional discover,” the Premier League mentioned in a press release.

Manchester City are presently positioned second within the league, and can face Aston Villa on February 12.
