In the Maharaja T20 Trophy, 23-year-old Lochan Gowda demonstrated exceptional batting skill. He unleashed an aggressive innings, scoring 32 runs in a single over.
The match between Shivamogga Lions and Mangalore Dragons was held on August 22 in Mysore. The Dragons batted first, setting a score of 200 runs in their 20 overs. Lochan, the 23-year-old opener, played a crucial role in reaching this score. He was the team’s highest scorer, hitting 63 runs off just 32 deliveries.
The highlight of Lochan’s innings was the 11th over, where he displayed an onslaught against the Lions’ bowler, D. Ashok. Lochan began the over with a six, then hit four more consecutive sixes. Although he couldn’t hit a sixth consecutive six, only managing 2 runs on the fifth ball, he finished the over with another six. Thus, Lochan scored 32 runs in the over, including five sixes. Of the 63 runs he scored, 32 were from this single over. His innings included 5 sixes and 2 fours.
Following Lochan’s exceptional performance, Tushar Singh, the opener for Shivamogga Lions, also delivered a powerful batting performance. Chasing a challenging target, Singh scored 89 runs off 48 balls. His innings comprised 7 sixes and 6 fours. Hardik Raj also contributed with 32 runs off 14 balls. Nevertheless, the Lions lost the match by 5 runs.
