The tragic event claimed the lives of approximately 242 individuals. The plane was en route to London Gatwick Airport from Ahmedabad Airport. At the 2025 WTC Final hosted at Lord’s, a minute of silence was observed as a tribute to those who perished. On the third day of the match between Australia and South Africa, Australian cricketers Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon were at the batting crease. In a display of solidarity, players from both teams wore black armbands.
