During this partnership, the two players narrowly missed out on breaking the Indian record against the West Indies, held by VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar, who had a 214-run partnership in Kolkata in 2002. By the end of the second day’s play, Team India had scored 448 runs for 5 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja was at 104 runs and Washington Sundar at 9 runs. The West Indies team had scored 162 runs in the first innings, giving Team India a lead of 286 runs.
