On the second day of the first Test, Dhruv Jurel formed a 206-run partnership with Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for the fifth wicket. During this partnership, the two players narrowly missed out on breaking the Indian record against the West Indies, held by VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar, who had a 214-run partnership in Kolkata in 2002. By the end of the second day’s play, Team India had scored 448 runs for 5 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja was at 104 runs and Washington Sundar at 9 runs. The West Indies team had scored 162 runs in the first innings, giving Team India a lead of 286 runs.
