A dominant performance by West Indies’ Jayden Seales, who took 10 wickets across the ODI series, proved pivotal in securing a series victory against Pakistan. The Pakistani side suffered a significant setback as their key batsmen, including Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, failed to make a substantial impact in the decisive match.
Seales’s impactful bowling in the series decider saw him dismiss Pakistan’s openers, Sam Ayub and Abdullah Shafique, for zero. This rare occurrence had not happened in Pakistan’s ODI history for 15 years. Captain Mohammad Rizwan also failed to score, and the hopes of the team that rested on Babar Azam were also shattered when Seales dismissed him after he had scored 23 runs.
Seales’s performance in the final match was highlighted by his career-best figures of 6 wickets for 18 runs in 7.2 overs. His exceptional performance secured him the top position as the leading wicket-taker of the series, with a total of 10 wickets in three matches.
With this defeat, Pakistan’s long-standing streak of not losing an ODI series to the West Indies, dating back to 1991, came to an end. The failure of senior players Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan to perform was a major factor in Pakistan’s series loss.
