India’s First Para‑Athletics Gold Achieved by Sharmila Dhankhar in Glasgow

Glasgow, July 28 – In a landmark moment for Indian sport, Sharmila Dhankhar secured a gold medal in the women’s Shot Put F57 competition at the Commonwealth Games 2026. Her throw of 9.81 metres outperformed the field and awarded India its maiden para‑athletics gold at this multi‑sport event.
