A major announcement for the Sharjah Warriors sees Dinesh Karthik joining the team for the upcoming ILT20 season. The experienced Indian cricketer will replace Kusal Mendis in the squad. Karthik’s addition is significant, given his recent role as the batting coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore, who secured their maiden IPL title in 2025.
Karthik’s impressive T20 career includes 412 matches, 7,437 runs, and 35 half-centuries, showcasing a strike rate of 136.66. For India, he has played 60 T20Is, scoring 686 runs with a strike rate of 142.61. In the SA20 league, Karthik played for the Pearl Royals, scoring 97 runs in six innings.
Karthik’s transition to playing in the ILT20 follows his retirement from all formats of Indian cricket in June 2024. His experience and leadership from his time with RCB and the Indian team will be invaluable to the Sharjah Warriors.
