The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 is experiencing a venue change, with Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium stepping in to replace Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The replacement was confirmed after the Karnataka State Association failed to receive the required government clearance to host matches, as announced by the ICC on Friday, August 22. Bengaluru’s participation as a venue had been uncertain from the beginning of August. The issues worsened following the tragic stampede during celebrations of RCB’s IPL title victory, bringing serious concerns regarding crowd management and safety protocols. Consequently, the ICC quickly finalized Navi Mumbai as the new venue. The DY Patil Stadium will now host three league games, a semi-final, and potentially the final—unless Pakistan qualifies, in which case the final will be played at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium. The tournament will take place from September 30 to November 2, including league games followed by two semi-finals and the final. The top four teams from the league stage will proceed to the knockout phase. The selection of DY Patil Stadium is a positive one, given its modern amenities and its history of hosting major cricket events. This ensures world-class conditions for players and spectators, keeping India at the core of the tournament.
