A wave of changes has swept through international cricket, courtesy of the ICC. Test matches will now incorporate a stop clock, penalizing slow over rates. In ODIs, one ball per innings will be used in the final overs. Boundary catch regulations have been updated to ensure a fair play. The DRS wicket zone will now encompass the actual outline of the stumps and bails. Updates have also been made to concussion protocols and deliberate short run rules. Furthermore, the ICC plans to trial replacement players in domestic first-class cricket and a new wide ball rule. These changes are designed to enhance the game’s flow, promote fairness, and protect player well-being. These new rules have already been implemented in the World Test Championship and are coming to ODIs and T20Is in July.
