Haryana Police have arrested Wasim Akram, a YouTuber from Palwal, on allegations of spying for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Pakistan High Commission. Akram, a resident of Kot village in Palwal district, produced videos on his YouTube channel concerning the history of Mewat. He was arrested on Wednesday. Evidence suggests that Akram had been communicating with Pakistani agents for three years and reportedly supplied them with SIM cards. Several WhatsApp messages recovered from his phone, including deleted ones, are currently being examined by the cyber cell. The investigation leading to Akram’s arrest was aided by information from Taufiq, who was apprehended by Palwal police last week. The investigation suggests Akram had links to Pakistan, a connection that emerged after he applied for a visa to Islamabad in 2021.
