By India Today Web Desk: Netherlands footballer Daley Blind is about to participate in his 99th worldwide match when his crew takes on Argentina within the quarter-final of the FIFA World Cup 2022 on Thursday, December 8 at Lusail Stadium.

However, there’s a particular facet about him that very folks may concentrate on. The 32-year-old defender performs with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) in his chest. The system detects irregular coronary heart beats and offers life-saving shock in instances of cardiac arrest.

Blind has continued enjoying regardless of having two cardiac arrests on the sector. Back in 2019, Blind was taken off the sector throughout a Champions League match. At that point, it appeared that his skilled profession was over. However, as a substitute of giving up, he stored enjoying.

“You saw everyone looking at me with fear. Something that has always stayed with me was my father’s reaction. He remained so stoic. He did not give up, he kept asking the doctor if there were any other options. His sober vision gave me hope,” Blind was quoted as saying in a documentary referred to as ‘Never Again Standing Still’.

After he received the defibrillator, he went via one other incident when he collapsed on the pitch because of the ICD going off. But quickly after, he was on his ft and resumed enjoying.

“It is something you carry with you every day. You get up with it, you go to work, you take your medicine. You think about it during a sprint, you actually always carry it with you. It was only after a year that I went into a game without thinking about it. Then I called my dad to tell him,” he said.

“I feel very fit and can do everything a normal person can do. Once in a while, I go for checks, but as long as I still have that drive, I will try to get the most out of it,” Blind added.
