Ricky Ponting has publicly addressed the circulation of fake comments attributed to him regarding the India-Pakistan cricket match. After India’s win, the Indian players proceeded directly to their dressing room, foregoing the traditional handshake, which triggered online discussion. False statements were attributed to Ponting, implying he had criticized India’s actions. Ponting has since denied making these comments and stated he has not publicly commented on the Asia Cup. The incident involved a joint team decision, made in consultation with the Indian government, as explained by India captain Suryakumar Yadav. This decision led to a complaint from the Pakistan Cricket Board and ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who requested the suspension of match referee Andy Pycroft. The match went ahead as scheduled, and the two teams may meet again later in the tournament.
