Central Delhi Kings dominated Purani Dilli 6 to secure a playoff spot in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) Season 2, winning by 104 runs (DLS method) in a rain-affected match at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat, the Kings recovered quickly from an early wicket. Yash Dhull played a pivotal innings, scoring a half-century and forming an important partnership with Yugal Saini. The middle order also provided crucial contributions, including Jonty Sidhu’s quick scoring. Aryan Rana’s explosive unbeaten 42 off just 14 balls was the highlight of the innings, helping the Kings reach 197/5 in 18 overs. Rajneesh Dadar was the most successful bowler for Purani Dilli 6, taking three wickets.
Purani Dilli 6 struggled to chase the challenging total. Early wickets by Money Grewal and Arun Pundir put them on the back foot. Skipper Vansh Bedi attempted a counter-attack before being dismissed. Rain interrupted the game with Purani Dilli 6 at 44/3 after 6 overs, leading to a revised target of 174 runs in 15 overs under the DLS method.
After the rain delay, the Kings’ bowlers continued to dominate. Simarjeet Singh took two wickets, and Pranav Pant offered the only significant resistance. However, the rest of the Purani Dilli 6 batting lineup crumbled, and they were bowled out for 69 runs.
Simarjeet Singh and Jonty Sidhu each claimed two wickets, while Arun Pundir also took two wickets. This convincing victory strengthens the Kings’ position heading into the playoffs and establishes them as a formidable contender in DPL Season 2.
